Leonard Ryu Oshiro is an Okinawan-Japanese fighter born in Hayward, California. He graduated from Santa Clara High School and began boxing at the Police Athletics League (Santa Clara) in 2010 (trained, no official bouts).
Leonard started MMA at San Diego Combat Academy while attending San Diego State University — the gym later became 10th Planet San Diego. He had his first MMA fight at 18 years old at 155 lbs and is a blue belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
